SUMMARY:Inaugural Helper Locomotive Car Show
DESCRIPTION:Helper\, Utah\, is a historic railroad and coal-mining town in Carbon County. It was founded in 1882 and named for the “helper” locomotives that were attached to the front or back of trains to assist them over the steep\, relentless grade of Price Canyon to Soldier Summit. It was established by the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad (D&RGW) and became an industrial\, commercial and entertainment gateway for surrounding coal camps. The heavy demand for railroad and mining labor attracted waves of global immigrants including Italian\, Greek\, French\, German\, Chinese\, Japanese\, and Slavic populations. At the turn of the 20th century\, Helper was a melting pot where over two dozen languages were spoken. \nJoin us Saturday July 25th\, in commemorating the rich history of Helper at the Inaugural “Helper Locomotive Car Show” which will be sponsored by Helper City. The show is a fundraiser for the Helper Museum\, which is a spectacular museum of the history of railroading and mining\, located on historic Main Street in Helper. All proceeds from the show will be donated to the museum. This family oriented car show will be located in Helper City Park\, a park with many large Cottonwood shade trees\, the perfect spot for a historic car show.
